|Pringles theft caught on CCTV|
|Uhunamure, jailed 4 years|
A vicious male thug who carried out a robbery on a man in a Peterborough underpass has been locked up, thanks to stealing a tube of Pringles. The petty shoplifting event was captured on a shop CCTV but was enough to wreck the defence of Greg Uhunamure.
The 21 year old male victim was attacked from behind in a tunnel between Redmile Walk and Saltersgate, Parnwell on Friday, October 12th. As the victim fell to the floor Uhanumure kicked him before going through his pockets, stealing a mobile phone, cards and money. He then demanded PIN numbers but the victim managed to run off.
Suffering from the assault, the victim needed hospital treatment, including stitches to a cut on his cheek and had his skull x-rayed.
Uhunamure, 20, of Norman Road, Peterborough, was arrested but denied being in Parnwell during the evening of the robbery. Unfortunately he had been caught on CCTV, stealing a tube of Pringles from One Stop Shop in Parnwell Centre, shortly after 6pm.
Faced with the evidence. He pleaded guilty to robbery and shoplifting at Peterborough Crown Court and was jailed for a total of four years on Monday February 11th.
Sergeant Scott Houghton, who investigated, said: "This was a nasty attack in which the victim was kicked while he was on the ground. Uhunamure thought he could help himself to the victim's property and evade arrest because he would be too scared to give evidence against him. This should send a strong message that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated and we will use every tool available to us to catch and convict anyone who commits such offences."
