|...who knows what could happen if playcentres are axed?|
We keyed into a local chat blog recently, and asked a few questions, as we understand that due to the budget funding cuts, PCC childrens staff are having their hours cut, and in places have to cover three or four centres within an existing time time table.
The PBROtrib understands that the expensively refitted Thistle Drive IS being reduced to just a couple of days a week, and clearly if the PCC can show there is no demand, then the facility will close completely.

I had heard on the grapevine but understand that it is a serious threat now - they are already understaffed and some days can't open due to that. I have been speaking to someone with links to Stanground Children's Centre who seems to think that it is definitely in the pipeline - they currently run some of their groups there and are of the understanding that at some point in the near future they will have to find a new venue. #Just to remind you of what is available, this is how the PCC describe it:
After seeing the council cuts recently, it was in the offing - seems that anyone that is deemed not to have a voice such as children, the elderly and anyone with disabilities is feeling the pinch a tad more than anyone else - we have to fund these fountains and water taxis somehow!!
