|Tory Grandee Tim Yeo MP|
told to go,go,go...
From time to time we dip into www.order-order.com the Guido Fawkes political blog. Tory Grandee Tim Yeo MP has been deselected, perhaps there are lessons to be learned a bit closer to home? You decide.
PBROTRIB has repeatedly suggested back bench Conservative Stewart Jackson MP spends more of his Westminster time on productive matters relating directly to the City of Peterborough and his Central Peterborough constituency (say just 60 % would be good...) rather than exploring human rights in far off lands, fretting about Europe, bragging about the latest restaurant/gallery/opening, he's graced with his expenses - whilst his constituents freeze in unheated homes, and queue up at the rapidly increasing number of foodbanks in the City, or work out how to pay the spare bedroom levy/tax/heist. For some this Christmas, it will tragically be a case of either heat or eat.
He can also hopefully stop agonising about plain cigarette packaging and demanding endless written statements from ministers on matters not relating to his constituency. Failure to heed our advice, could well see the ex High Street Bank Manager (Lloyds) being dumped at the polls, (he's already been selected to run for the next General Election). Stewart should also be aware that some of the more venomous tweets he dashes off - then deletes - are all carefully preserved on a special website, the PBROTRIB has been recently made aware of.... magic!
But we promised you Guido Fawkes:
Guido first revealed Tim Yeo's selection woes in the Sun on Sunday ( http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/suncolumnists/guidofawkes/5240105/Rents-dodge-to-be-new-scandal-for-MPs.html ) a three weeks ago, and now he's been given the bullet by his local constituency:
> TROUBLE ahead for Tory toff Tim Yeo. Now the 68-year-old faces another battle – his local party want him out and have so far refused to re-select him as the Conservative candidate in his South Suffolk seat. Besides being a pompous snob, Yeo has managed to upset the locals by spending most of his time in London or his other country pile in Sandwich, Kent – 150 miles from his seat.
The BBC are reporting the Tories in Suffolk last night deselected the old trougher. Guido would say Yeo can now spend more time on the golf course, but that was half the problem...

According to the Ipswich Star, the local party issued a statement saying:
"The executive council of the South Suffolk Conservative Association met on the evening of Friday, November 29 and voted NOT to re-adopt Tim Yeo for the 2015 General Election.
"Mr Yeo is now considering his position and will advise the executive council of his intended course of action."
Mr Yeo, 68, who served as environment minister in John Major's government, has represented the constituency for three decades, and won an 8,600 majority in 2010.
In June he was caught up in a newspaper sting, and faced allegations that he offered to lobby ministers and 'coached' a business associate, who was due to give evidence to his committee.
However, the cross-party standards committee found he had done nothing wrong.
