As we clock up 265,000 hits, we seem to have ruffled (not for the first time) the feathers of one Stewart Jackson MP, who did send in the circumstances penned (from a sedentary position?) a quite humourous, if a trifle tired and emotional email. It still failed however to answer the core question, if he would either be taking a holiday in the Republic of Dominica or leading a fact finding mission to the country? Which is it?
Stewart delights in forever demanding statements from ministers. The PBROTRIB reads every one [Ed: Must really get out more....] it makes him look busy, but in practical terms requires very little input, he can do it from his smartphone even! In this case it was about the dire human rights record in that far off country, and nothing to do with Peterborough. All faithfully recorded in Hansard, but needlessly clocking up costs or expenses in the production of written answers, and the felling of forests of trees.
And he's at it again.............

Stewart Jackson: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent assessment he has made of (a) human rights and (b) representative democracy in Haiti; and if he will make a statement.
At a time when Childrens Centres in Peterborough are being unceremoniously dumped by the Cllr Marco Cereste troops, seemingly to make way for golden routes and statues.... the matter carefully taken away from Childrens Services Portfolio holder (and Tory party secretary) the gaff prone Cllr Sheila Scott OBE, and shuffled over to an anonymous council officer a 'Director of Communities', you really must question if the MP for central Peterborough, really understands the purpose of his role, outside of the Westminster bubble? Perhaps he could explain it?
If he could only direct say 60 per cent of his time to matters directly concerning Peterborough, and put to one side his trunkload of pet and some decidedly oddball hobby horses, he might over time make it off the wilderness of the back banches and into a Junior position? That might be difficult, as even David Camerons continuing tenure at Number 10, is under threat. 'Jacco' would also have our full and active support, but the 'worm in his ear' makes this uber difficult.
To understand what we mean just read the last few Westminster Life columns he has written (or could it possibly be drafted/influenced by the guiding hand of Mrs Jackson? None other than Sarah O'Grady, the Daily Express Property Correspondent....) for the local newspaper.
Some clearly dashed off at the last moment, the others a tad more thoughtful.... Time to man up Stewart, you'll be facing a General Election soon, and the Jury is still out ... oh so still out.... just wait until the energy bills and rent arrears evictions hit in February!
