Peterborough City Council has awarded a contract to the Alzheimer's Society to run the new facility which will be based at 441 Lincoln Road, Millfield, Peterborough.
The centre will act as a 'One Stop Shop' for advice, information and support to people with dementia, their carers and loved ones. Essentially to help them to live well with dementia, and remain independent for as long as possible.
Alzheimer’s Society and NHS Memory Clinic (diagnosis team delivered by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust) together with a 7 day a week dementia day service will all be based in the new centre, bringing together health and social care dementia services under one roof.
There will be a team of support workers offering emotional and practical help, hosting a range of groups and activities proven to slow down the progression of the condition. Also available will be help and support specifically for carers - including training - to help people prepare for their role as a carer.
Anyone affected by dementia will be able to drop into the centre speak to experienced and qualified members of staff.
The range of services on offer at the centre will include dementia support services, access to dementia advisors, dementia information sessions, Singing for the Brain sessions, Dementia cafés and workshops and training for carers. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME Click on 'No Comments' below
