|Andrew Bartlett (Police, Inspector, Peterborough - Southern)|
There has been some really good news with regards to the Dwelling Burglaries. Police officers had arrested a male suspected of some of the offences. I am pleased to say that the male known as Lee Neacy; 13/04/1980 has received a three year custodial sentence.
Since this arrest there have been no further reported Dwelling Burglaries in your area. However shed Burglaries have started to emerge and high value Pedal cycles targeted. Last night there were three Shed Burglaries in the following streets.
- Palmerstone Rd-Woodston
- George Rd- Stanground
- Appollo Ave-Stanground.
A white male on a Pedal cycle carrying a red rucksack was seen in the area of Stanground at about 05:10hrs. The suspect was trying garage doors but was disturbed by the resident; officers attended but were unable to locate the suspect.
Police actions: Operation Atmosphere
I have and will continue to deploy resources to the area until all the offenders are caught and convicted and we will work with partners to remove them from our communities if they cause us harm.
The PCSOs are out during the day identifying insecurities and giving crime prevention advice. They are also knocking on door to increase eCops registrations so we can share information with you in a more timely fashion.
Officers will deploy to your location through the night checking premises and persons in the area for insecure premises, this will be enhanced by a series of covert deployments as well.
Can you help
Please help us by spreading the message about E-Cops/Neighbourhood alert, encourage neighbours to sign up and share information. Please pass the word to others about keeping windows and doors secure and removal of belongings from vehicles.
Consider putting in a driveway alarm and PIR lights to deter offenders from visiting especially if your home backs onto footpaths, again another cheap but effective device is a shed alarm. These small and inexpensive items are proven to deter criminals, and are available from E-Bay or Amazon.
