The PBROTRIB has been sent the email below, it relates to the BBC Cambs Radio Debate hosted by Paul Stainton - leaving aside the technical matters raised - the core thrust of the e-mail is the very public 'toxic' relationship between Conservative Stewart Jackson MP (Central Peterborough) and the Conservative Leader of Peterborough City Council Cllr. Marco Cereste, who for one of his day jobs is the Chairman of a Solar/ green energy company Lark Energy.
The 'Punch and Judy' politics displayed by these two, is having a detrimental effect on inward investment in this City, suggests Cllr Nick Thulbourn who also runs a printing and print finishing business in the City and meets other local businesses on a daily basis. Milton Keynes added some 400 new high tech business enterprises to its City role in the last 12 months. All Peterborough can show is a small number of retail enterprises and lots of empty warehouses.
Being the season of goodwill, Its time for the two Tories to kiss and make up. Cllr Cereste, to stop hiding behind his claims of 'commercial confidentiality' in any project that relies on public funding, and properly lay all the figures out for independent evaluation. Residents would also like a clear assurance that Lark Energy and its arms length solar panel supply company, and now its new Texas Roswell financial and mining partner and possibly their associates are in no way involved, In view of China's appalling Human Rights record (worse that the Dominican Republic Stewart! See earlier post) the solar panels if this goes through will be ethically sourced elsewhere and costed accordingly.
Ideally as Cllr Marco Cereste is the Chairman of a highly commercial energy company with substantial commercial interests in building and operating solar farms, he will appreciate the unease on all sides of the political spectrum and take no part or influence any future debate. Its called democracy....

Subj: Solar farm debate
Just to make you aware, the real concern for me with regards the [BBC CAMBS] debate the other night was how the MP Stewart Jackson and Council Leader Marco Cereste were at loggerheads again.
The BBC has a lot to answer on this, as this relationship is beginning to have a real affect on Peterborough, with perception and inward investment and they should be showing the reality of the situation.
Would you want to invest if you end up being attacked by Jackson under parliamentary privilege, which has proven to be a reality for some?
They twice ended up in a slanging match firstly over financials where they actually both got it wrong and for some unknown reason they had a full on barney about Kensington, actually it was the secret millionaire guy who sparked this one.
If you want to understand why financially we are having such a hard time simply look at the figures today around adult social care.
We have to get them to do things better, they don't seem to understand implementation, planning or contract management.
Cllr Nick Thulbourn
