|"...and the special award for prize fat spitting porkies goes to...."|
This is not an April fool, but a prime example of a flea bitten dog driven mad and chasing its own tail. Please be seated, take any heart pills you may need, and read this very slowly: Debt laden Peterborough City Council has paid, using public funds, a not for profit outfit, the grandly titled: Association for Public Service Excellence (we know a few of these) we repeat, using borrowed public funds, to enter a self-serving competition to say that it is excellent. YES EXCELLENT!!!!
Sadly the local newspaper has fallen for it and swallowed the PCC line... how on earth can this council even be considered for an award for service delivery, when its been a relentless campaign of slash and burn? Over £2 million blown on 'legal advice' for a solar farm project that few want. Childrens Centres closed, Care Homes Closed, Director Childrens Services rapidly exited, Bus Routes cut, huge eye-watering amounts spent on vanity projects including the Cereste Memorial Fountains & Small Dirty Boy Pigeon Wash. Long serving Librarians 'declared redundant', library hours curtailed. Hot meals on wheels cut.
The only thing that could be funnier is a picture of the Dear Leaders' big black beast parked straddling some double yellow lines in the City and the Dear Leaders twitter response...does anyone have this? Or perhaps Lord Rennard being allowed to rejoin the Lib Dems, after no action being taken, over the alleged attempted jiggy jiggy fumble at an Peterborough Hotel! Or the special naughty step award for a councillor with the worst council attendance ZERO! Or a special root vegetable award, for Cllr Travelling Turnip, (far too many citations to include here) or convicted Conservative key man Cllr Peter Hiller pleaded not guilty! Cheeky Monkey!
PCC has also been recently featured in Private Eye Rotten Boroughs Awards, the Cllr Sheila Scott radio interview 'car crash' award. Scruffy Cabinet member with a plan for failing childrens services but couldn't remember where she left it..
To be fair we would ask the PCC overpaid PR people to publish the submission to APSE in full and a tally of the 'manhours' diverted to concoct this fanciful document. Perhaps it could be the 'book' for the Key Theatre Christmas Pantomime ? Speaking of which how many times has Vivacity breached its original business plan? When was it supposed to be self-financing?
Amazingly Peterborough City Council has actually reached the short listing stage, the PBROTRIB bets that none of our over 2,000 blog posts have been included in the evidence to their chief executive Paul O’Brien. We will of course be attempting to put this right, and no doubt our Rubbish Correspondent will be sending over a huge selection of his recent litter and fly tipping photographs marked for the attention of Mr Paul O'Brien at email@example.com or call 0161 772 1810
This is the original press release, read and gently weep:
