|6:45 am 4th November 2014. Chip Factory monthly burn off. How long has this been going on? The October burn was on a Friday afternoon. Did someone tip them off?|
THE UK's largest dedicated Chip Factory near Kings Dyke is being investigated by Environmental Health Officials as a possible cause of the mystery City of Peterborough widespead power overnight blackout at 1:40am on Tuesday 4th November. The smoke was still belching out hours later at 6:45am and captured by PBROTRIB photographers through the early morning fog.
Suspicions were raised following a previous end of month acrid burn off on Friday October 2nd at 10 am, when fanned by strong winds, waves of acrid possibly carcinogenic fumes caused problems for Children, pensioners and those with respiratory problems living in Park Farm, Stanground and Cardea. Residents were advised to stay inside and close all windows.
Local Conservative Stanground councillors have known about the problem for years, but for a variety of excuses have refused to act. Possibly as they backed the installation of a massive incinerator plant, and did not want to underline the air quality problems associated with any incinerator or burn off programme in the run up to local and national elections in May next year.
