Its pretty clear that the time for petty party squabbles is long over, essentially as there is nothing left to fight about, just a big black hole. It is also painfully clear the self styled 'MP for Peterborough' Stewart Jackson (in reality, he is not the MP for the southern sector of this City) has to 'man up' and finally bury the hatchet with fellow Tory Marco Cereste.
Give up on the trips to Honduras, Dominican Republic, to name but two, and any other 'junkets' that have been kept under wraps. Stewart is worried about their Human Rights....perhaps in between his 'ligging adventures' around all eateries - all faithfully recorded on his twitter feed - he could worry about us as this City is cruelly run into the ground?
Every minute he spends jetting off on all expenses paid VIP trips to far off lands such as Honduras and the Dominican Republic is a minute less spent on saving Peterborough.
It's time to start an active high level lobby inside Westminster on behalf of this City. Clearly the central ploy of the Osborne/Cameron long term economic plan slavishly supported by Stewart Jackson MP is to totally run this City into the ground. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

The thinking is Stewart Jackson MP is on the back benches, has little support from the front bench and hardly likely ever to attain high political office, admittedly a bit of a nuisance on EC matters, so Osborne will deliberately direct resources to those areas (Clue: All along HS2 route and Northern Cities) bound to support his party, and he is being quite open about it... just a shame the 'blinkered' local Conservative Association cannot see it.

Not that it matters one jot to Westminster, as our sources say the National party already has more than enough in the overflowing financial war chest to fight the May General Election and possibly a second one later in 2015!!! The first election having cleared out Labours war chest and financially wrecked UKIP.
But back to our own pickle. The council now has to cover a black hole of £25.3 million for 2015/16. Some £16.7 million was axed and voted through last Wednesday, by those councillors who bothered to attend. Cuts will quickly make the Streets of our City deteriorate at an alarming rate.
The additional £ 1/2 Million debt burden was an unexpected and unwelcome Christmas Present from the Coalition announced on Thursday December 18th. Where was the combined Conservative MP and Council protest? In the crapper, they hardly speak to each other! Stewart Jackson MUST HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN BUT SAID NOTHING!
The 2015 grant settlement will ensure that Peterborough City Council council now loses £12.8 million which is another £500,000 on top of the £12.3 million slash and burn already in the pipeline and part of the Phase One cuts. But Cllr Seaton thinks he (alone) is doing an excellent job! Good old spanker!

It is also clearly time to end 'robotic voting' and clear out the cabinet, of a pile of self serving deadwood. To say nothing of the convicted lag Cllr Peter Hiller being in charge of, wait for it...The Honours Committee! (no Gentle Reader, not making this up). The long list of apologies for the main 'Budget' council meeting read out and recorded on video, (click this link) is pathetic. Councillors missing included Cllr Irene Walsh, the Queen of Special Responsibility payments. Her white handbag is seemingly stuffed full! The least she can do is pitch up for important core meetings...

The so called Opposition, after the last election dubbed by some as 'Tory Light' as they threw their lot behind the Cereste leadership, and the Dear Leader confirming within minutes of the election results being announced that he had the vote and support for his continuing leadership of several opposition members in his pocket So they can also 'man/woman up.'
Have a good look at the video of the important budget council meeting the ONLY councillor who showed the slighted bit of emotion was Cllr Murphy, the rest of his cohort sat on their hands, and then late into the evening, raised a few half baked objections as it sunk in how draconian the future is going to be for them all.
But this is where the whole business enters the world of fantasy. The money pit known as the Mayor (and Deputy Mayor aka Cllr Turnip) let it be known that at the close of the meeting he'd be laying on 'a Christmas themed Buffet' in his chambers for Councillors and their guests.... (Cllr Cereste had already gone through the new Argos Lounge Tapas menu just before the meeting!)

So what can be done? Westminster has already decreed that Peterborough is to suffer, so we in turn can ensure they too feel the pain. It starts with everyone turning out to vote in person. Even tearing up the Postal Vote. Not voting on party lines but each individual thinking through all the options and voting accordingly.
Its not a matter of splitting the vote but putting a huge electoral rocket underneath the moribund and elitist political folk who seek to cast us into a couple of decades of austerity, and think the elections are already in the bag. . So simply stuff their Long Term Economic Plan and welcome a Long Term Realistic Plan, a plan that each and every one of us can positively contribute to. A plan that seeks to extend prosperity and goodwill. In other words try and be nice to one another and have a very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year... The rest of the year will be 'pants' and that's official...
Seasonal Greetings from us all at your Peterborough Trib!
Meanwhile the Christmas Cheer flows unabated
on the Stewart Jackson MP Twitter account :
Not much better in Ceresteville, the Dear Leader is also having a bumpy ride on Twitter, perhaps they have both been liberally tarbrushed with the 'Grinch' virus. Lighten up Gentlemen, 'tis the Season of Goodwill....
