A doctor who pronounced a nursing home resident dead without bothering to examine the body has been suspended for six months.
Dr Rajinder Lotay was called out to the Valley View Residential Nursing Home, in Rochester, Kent after an elderly woman passed away on 16 December 2012.
But she failed to perform a physical examination of the body during her 30-minute visit to verify death, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service found. Relatives heard her say 'oh yes, she's dead, let's go back to the office' before recording 'no circulation, no respiration' on the forms, the Manchester hearing was told. -
