Normally we do a PBROTRIBSKETCH on the full council meeting, but suffice to say we've already reported most of it, a few days ago. Ahead of the loop you might say, and Marco Cerestes robotic voting Army ensured the motions were nearly all carried in his direction, even if the bad tempered meeting was still in session as midnight approached.
But there does seem to be confusion as to the meaning of Public Service. Some councillors equating their allowances as payment for their time spent on council business, then some moaning they are all below the minimum wage. Perhaps Cllr North (in particular) should read up the Code for Public Service?
Simply what has now been voted in, is the first phase of the destruction of this fine City, a budget of thousand cuts, dressed up as savings, but the usual vanity projects ring fenced as if nothing has happened. But dear reader rest assured councillor allowances will be untouched, no reductions no rebates, not even a token discount.
The full grizzly story to be duly reported at length in the local media, but as far as we are concerned the voting was all agreed, in private, before the main public meeting, and that is how it played out. We've seen the process repeated so many times before, it's really not supposed to be like that
The agreement to go ahead with the solar scheme is a shocker as we didn't realise the cash strapped PCC would have to stump up £4 million, the trial area is all down Cromwell and Lincoln Road, just cannot help thinking that as soon as the solar panels are installed, like lead being stripped from a church roof, they could well be in transit far sooner than was intended and possibly container shipped to a deserving third world country...but that is just us being cynical. Nothing like that would ever happen in Lincoln Road!
Also (if you can fight you way past the Dear Leader Marco Cereste who was spotted stuffing his face before the council meeting, only to be replaced by Ed Murphy and another member 'tanking up' during the council meeting interval) give a welcome to Argo a new café bar that's opened in the shell of another PCC black financial hole, the expensively refurbished arcade which is now little more than a covered drinking area for the bar overflow. Oh and a tucked away nail bar who probably thought an up Mrs Cereste high class boutique would be their neighbour.... Merry Christmas.... we might have ruined that ....Ooops!
