The Valentines Day dog 'n' bone has been ringing off the hook in Trib Towers, as we now hear the dear leader Cllr. Marco Cereste currently a Councillor in Stanground Central Ward is said to be packing up his Lambretta, solar panels, and moving his caravan to Fletton & Woodston, deserting the Stanground gang of Tories to their own devices.... he's also blocked the PBROTRIB from his Twitter feed.
The thinking is that with the Italian Association and the Fleet Centre in Fletton & Woodston and Matthew Lee not standing, it'll be an easier ride for the Father of four in May. He'll capitalise on the work Cllr Lee has done, sail home and be set up for the boundary changes, the following year when we go through the whole process again. Fletton being unaffected and Cllr Cereste bedded in so to speak. You have to admire the plan.
It will also neatly sidestep a head on challenge from a strong slate of hopefuls lining up to unseat the Dear Leader. Stanground East will vanish in the boundary changes and neatly sucked into Cardea, Stanground Central will change with it.
So the tenure following the local election in May is just for a year. Cllr. Harper isn't expected to retain his seat, judging on his past performance. Its been a lacklustre five years. Cllr Cereste will also avoid the head of steam building up over the road rail freight interchange alongside Stanground, which unbelievably is still on the regions grand strategic plan, and as the wider economy picks up could be waved through, with an added tranche of land taking the monolith into fenlands.
The word is that it won't be funded by Dubai but by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. By the time the boundary changes kick in the carcinogenic incinerator should also be working at full capacity and the huge house schemes planned to hem in Stanground village,, will all get the benefits of the unrelenting output however well the output is scrubbed..
Cereste is no fool, it is every Tory for him or herself. The latest PCC budget is an austerity disaster and the implications of the Cameron/Osborne national debt down at all costs and slowly unfolding IDS Universal Credit scheme rolling out locally and right up to, and through the elections in May will unseat many Tories. Cllr. Irene Walsh scraped in with just a handful of votes last time and Cllr Turnip (AKA Cllr Harper)...well nuff said.
