Nicola is a long standing campaigner in Peterborough, with the Labour Party. She now says that 'Labour has turned away from its traditional policies and therefore is no longer the party for her.'
Nicola says: ‘I discovered that the policies of the Greens resonate with my core beliefs. I have found courageous people in the Green Party. They believe in being caring and supportive and we emphasise the importance of families, friends, neighbours and supportive communities. The Greens would build a prosperous and sustainable society where resources are used and shared much more fairly.’
Nicola grew up in Orton Goldhay where her dad had a milk round for thirty years. She went to Bushfield School. ‘Bushfield was a fantastic school with amazing teachers; it inspired me to go into teaching to help other young people.’ She became an English Teacher and currently works in Museum Development.
‘As a child, I used to go out in the summer really early and help my dad with his milk round. I am really pleased local people where I grew up and whose values I share will have the chance to vote for the Green Party. The ‘Green Surge’ excites me: we are seeing amazing membership growth. We are able to give people the opportunity to vote for a Green MP for the first time in North West Cambridgeshire for almost 20 years.’
