Two Peterborough men have been jailed following an attempted burglary in Peterborough.
Jeremy Steel, 44, and Mark Cocksedge, 40, both pleaded guilty at Peterborough Crown Court on January 18 and sentenced to three years and two years respectively.
At around 9pm on October 21 2015, Steel and Cocksedge both from Towler Street, Peterborough, smashed a patio door of a house in Humphrys Street, off Sugar Way. They were however quickly disturbed by the female owner, who had just returned home, and heard glass breaking.
Detective Constable Adam Blake said: "Despite being shaken up after seeing these two men attempting to break into her home, she quickly called police with detailed descriptions of what they were wearing and the route they had taken.
"Officers were quickly sent to the neighbourhood, Steel and Cocksedge were subsequently arrested and brought before the courts.
"The force is prioritising burglary was part of Operation Hunter, which aims to put offenders before the courts whilst urging residents to take home security seriously.
"We hope this sentence acts as a deterrent to others. Offenders will be caught and sent through the courts. Members of the public are urged to continue to report any suspicious activity to police on 101."
